Summary

AbbVie's Q3 2026 revenue of $17.4 billion and adjusted EPS beat guidance as neuroscience grew 19.5%, lifting the full-year neuroscience outlook to $13 billion.

AbbVie's Q3 2026 earnings beat the company's own guidance on revenue and earnings per share, and AbbVie raised its full-year outlook again. The company reported results for the quarter ended September 30 on October 30, 2026, through an earnings release and an earnings call [1][2]. Four questions framed the quarter: whether Skyrizi and Rinvoq could offset the decline of Humira, whether neuroscience could deliver roughly $12.7 billion for the year, whether self-pay aesthetics demand could stop falling, and whether revenue could still convert into earnings per share after the Apogee acquisition [3]. Neuroscience and profit conversion came in clearly better than expected. Immunology grew strongly, but Skyrizi only met plan for the quarter. Aesthetics split: toxins stopped declining while dermal fillers fell faster. The handoff from Humira is still running ahead of AbbVie's own expectations; what remains to be tested is profit after the new debt carries a full quarter of interest, and 2027 rebates and pricing.

AbbVie is a large drugmaker built around immunology, with additional neuroscience, oncology and aesthetics products. It earns its money mainly from prescription drug sales; nearly all U.S. prescription drugs are sold to three wholesalers [4], and revenue is recognized at net prices after rebates.

Neuroscience growth broadens and the full-year outlook rises to $13 billion

Neuroscience revenue ran ahead of the quarterly pace needed for the full-year target. Third-quarter neuroscience revenue was $3.389 billion, up 19.5% year over year at constant exchange rates (operational), compared with $3.228 billion in the second quarter [1][5]. AbbVie's earlier full-year assumption was about $12.7 billion, which required roughly $3.3 billion a quarter in the second half [3].

Several products drove the growth. Migraine pills Ubrelvy grew 26.9% and Qulipta grew 38.2%, which management attributed to share gains and market growth [1][2]. Vyalev, an infused Parkinson's therapy, brought in $286 million, up from $256 million in the second quarter [1][5], and the company said it is on track to exceed $1 billion for the year [2]. Vraylar grew 14.3%, slower than 18.9% in the second quarter [1][5].

AbbVie raised its full-year neuroscience outlook by $300 million to $13 billion [2]. The new drug Juvmo (tavapadon) has FDA approval, but the company expects Medicare coverage to become broadly available only in 2028 [1][2]. The quarter confirms that existing products are ramping as planned; commercial success for the new drug is not yet tested.

Profit conversion beats guidance after the Apogee deal

Profit conversion exceeded guidance even as expenses and interest rose. AbbVie had guided third-quarter revenue of about $17.2 billion and adjusted EPS of $3.84 to $3.88, excluding acquired in-process R&D and milestones expense (IPR&D) in the quarter [3]. Actual revenue was $17.404 billion and adjusted EPS was $3.82, including a $0.11 IPR&D charge; excluding it, adjusted EPS was about $3.93 [1][2].

A high-margin product mix absorbed the costs Apogee added. Adjusted gross margin was 85.1%, the adjusted operating margin was 48.7% (including 1.2 percentage points of IPR&D), and adjusted net interest expense was $688 million [1]. AbbVie had expected Apogee to reduce 2026 adjusted EPS by $0.14 [6]; the quarter shows the dilution remains manageable.

The improvement carried into full-year guidance and cash. AbbVie raised its full-year adjusted EPS guidance to $13.95 to $13.99 and its full-year revenue outlook to about $67.8 billion [2]. Free cash flow was about $14 billion in the first nine months, and the quarterly dividend rises 5.2% [1][2]. The notes issued in August carried only part of a quarter of interest; the fourth quarter is the first with full interest.

Other priorities: immunology on plan, aesthetics split

Immunology continued to provide most of the growth. Skyrizi revenue was $5.776 billion, up 22.9%, Rinvoq grew 24.3%, and Humira fell 30.6% [1]. Management said oral competitors have not had a substantive impact on new patient capture and raised its full-year Skyrizi expectation to $21.8 billion [2].

AbbVie's two aesthetics product lines moved in opposite directions. Aesthetics revenue fell 1.8%, U.S. Botox Cosmetic grew 2.4%, and Juvederm dermal fillers fell 11.8% [1]. Fillers are about 1.3% of total revenue, so the effect on the whole company is small.

Conclusion

This report strengthens the case for AbbVie's growth and profit conversion. Immunology and neuroscience both ran ahead of expectations, margins were supported by a high-margin mix, and cash generation was enough to support a higher dividend. The main uncertainties are full interest on the new debt in the fourth quarter, 2027 immunology rebates and government pricing for Vraylar, and the slow ramp of Juvmo. AbbVie guided fourth-quarter revenue of about $18.4 billion and adjusted EPS of $3.83 to $3.87 [2]; that result and 2027 guidance will test whether this quarter's conclusions hold.
