Tokenized Cash Funds Attract Growing On-Chain Inflows

Summary
WisdomTree reported $500 million of Q3 on-chain inflows as Flow Traders saw tokenized-asset volume rise 62% year over year despite weaker crypto ETF trading.
On October 29-30, 2026, WisdomTree (WT) and Flow Traders (FLTLF) disclosed in a third-quarter earnings call and trading update that tokenized assets kept growing despite a subdued crypto market. WisdomTree reported $500 million of on-chain net inflows, while Flow Traders saw tokenized-asset trading volume rise 62% year over year.[1][2]
Tokenized money market funds add an on-chain cash layer
Stablecoins move money on blockchains, while tokenized money market funds can hold cash that is temporarily idle. Payment stablecoins are useful for transferring value but cannot directly pay interest to holders. Investors seeking a return have often needed to move back to a traditional brokerage account or accept additional decentralized-finance risk. A registered money market fund placed on-chain can hold assets such as short-term Treasuries while its shares serve reserve, treasury-management, or collateral uses.[1]
Wallet and custody distribution shortens that path. WisdomTree said users can access WTGXX directly inside BitGo Mint instead of first moving funds back to a conventional account.[1] Stablecoin issuers, corporate treasuries, and collateral users can therefore separate money in motion from money at rest. Asset managers may earn advisory fees, while custody and distribution platforms may gain a new pool of assets.
Fund flows and trading volume are diverging from crypto ETFs
WisdomTree's inflow data puts a direct scale on the shift. The company generated $4.6 billion of total third-quarter net inflows, including $2.4 billion in the United States, $1.7 billion in Europe, and $500 million on-chain.[1] Management also said the failure of the Clarity Act to pass had no clear negative effect and attributed the change to stablecoin rules and distribution conditions before and after the GENIUS Act.[1]
Flow Traders reported a similar divergence in market activity. Tokenized-asset trading volume increased 7% quarter over quarter and 62% year over year. Digital-asset ETF value traded rose more than 7% sequentially but remained down 31% from a year earlier.[2] Together, the two disclosures support a distinct use case for tokenized real-world assets, but they do not show that the segment is fully independent of crypto cycles.
“Stablecoins are incredibly useful for moving value around the blockchain ecosystem. But when that money isn't being used, investors should be able to earn a yield without having to move back into the traditional financial system or take risks in DeFi.”[1]
Product access and utility become the competitive control points
The value chain now extends beyond issuing a token to include fund products, wallet distribution, custody, and round-the-clock liquidity. Companies that embed funds in wallets and make them usable for reserves or collateral may capture more idle on-chain balances. Market makers may also face a growing set of tokenized instruments. Relevant confirmation measures include on-chain fund net flows, assets under management, collateral use, and visible revenue contribution.
Adoption remains the main boundary. Federated Hermes said clients were not yet demanding these products aggressively and described its current work as infrastructure for tomorrow.[3] WisdomTree's on-chain investment also still produces an operating loss in the mid-$20 million range.[1] The evidence supports an emerging use case and distribution channel, not rapid displacement of conventional money market funds.
Companies exposed to the shift
- Galaxy Digital (GLXY): Its SWEEP fund targets round-the-clock on-chain cash and collateral use. Its existing scale shows exposure to the same demand, while further growth still depends on institutional adoption.
- Circle (CRCL): USYC connects a yield-bearing fund to a stablecoin ecosystem and may absorb idle balances. The frozen evidence confirms product scale but does not quantify its contribution to companywide profit.
- Franklin Resources (BEN): It has tokenized funds and distribution partnerships, but limited wallet infrastructure may still constrain the pace of asset gathering.
