    Nippon Steel announced on August 6 that it will cut the general distribution price of nickel-based stainless cold-rolled thin steel sheets for August contracts by 10,000 yen per ton (just under 2%) from the previous month. This is the first price cut in 1 year and 2 months since June 2025. Thick steel plates will also be cut by a similar amount. The cut reflects a decline in the international price of nickel, the raw material, which fell by 0.48 dollars per pound to 7.79 dollars per pound in June-July compared with May-June.
