Teva (TEVA) Q3 2026 Earnings: AUSTEDO Beats, Destocking Shifts to Q4

Summary
Teva's Q3 2026 AUSTEDO revenue of $751 million beat the range implied by prior guidance with no visible destocking; Teva raised three brand outlooks as non-GAAP gross margin hit 58.7%.
Teva Pharmaceutical (TEVA) reported third-quarter 2026 results on November 3, 2026, in an 8-K press release and its 10-Q, and all three key innovative brands came in above the quarterly levels implied by prior guidance, leading the company to raise its full-year outlook [1][2]. Earlier research on Teva focused on four business questions: whether AUSTEDO revenue would fall as wholesalers cut inventory ahead of 2027 Medicare price setting, whether AJOVY and UZEDY growth came from prescriptions or from lower discounts, whether gross margin and cash flow would hold guidance, and where U.S. generics would bottom after lenalidomide erosion. In the quarter, AUSTEDO showed no visible destocking and the expected decline shifted into the fourth quarter; AJOVY's U.S. growth leaned on price; non-GAAP gross margin rose to 58.7% while cash collection lagged profit; and U.S. generics fell 39% year over year but rose from the prior quarter [1][2]. The results strengthen the view that Teva's profit base is shifting toward innovative medicines, but the quarter's growth and margins should not be extrapolated directly.
Teva is one of the world's largest generic drug companies. It sells generics, biosimilars and its own innovative medicines across its United States, Europe and International Markets segments, mainly to wholesalers and pharmacies [3]. Innovative medicines carry much higher gross margins than generics, so product mix drives profit.
AUSTEDO: no destocking in Q3, decline pushed into Q4
AUSTEDO revenue was well above expectations in the third quarter. Global revenue was $751 million, up 21% in local currency [1], above the $588-663 million quarterly range implied by the prior full-year guidance. The company had said that wholesalers would reduce inventory before Medicare price setting takes effect in January 2027, with the impact falling in the second and third quarters [4][5].
Reported revenue in the quarter broadly tracked patient demand. U.S. revenue was $727 million, up 21%, and the 10-Q attributed the increase to volume growth and improved net-price realization without mentioning destocking [2]. The call summary shows U.S. milligram dispenses up 23% [6]; the 10-Q does not disclose this figure.
The expected decline has moved into the fourth quarter. Teva raised its full-year AUSTEDO outlook to $2.55-2.65 billion, and nine-month global revenue already reached $2.026 billion [1]. That implies fourth-quarter revenue of roughly $524-624 million, consistent with the company's earlier statement that fourth-quarter AUSTEDO revenue would decline year over year [5]. The company has not quantified how price setting will affect 2027 net prices [2]; management said it expects 2027 AUSTEDO revenue to reach $2.5 billion but gave no formal guidance [6].
AJOVY and UZEDY beat, but AJOVY's U.S. growth leaned on price
Both brands exceeded the quarterly ceilings implied by prior guidance. AJOVY global revenue was $269 million, up 61%, and UZEDY revenue was $85 million, up 96%, against implied ceilings of about $233 million and $75 million [1]. Teva raised full-year outlooks to $930-960 million for AJOVY and $290-310 million for UZEDY [1].
Price was the main source of AJOVY's U.S. growth. U.S. revenue rose 88%, and the 10-Q attributed it first to a reduction in sales allowance, while U.S. prescription share rose only from 32.2% to 32.8% [2]. AJOVY in Europe and UZEDY grew mainly on volume [2]. Teva has not said whether the lower allowance will last. WELTRUZA, an olanzapine long-acting injectable, received FDA approval on October 9 and is expected to launch in the coming weeks [2]; the company had said it would generate no fourth-quarter revenue [5].
Gross margin jumped while cash conversion lagged profit
Product mix lifted gross margin sharply. Non-GAAP gross margin was 58.7%, versus 55.3% a year earlier, which the company attributed to a higher share of innovative products and lower lenalidomide revenue [1]. This shares its source with AUSTEDO; Europe's margin gain also came from sales of product rights and hedging gains [2]. The company had already signaled a slight fourth-quarter gross margin decline [5]. Non-GAAP operating income rose about 8% to $1.393 billion, while GAAP operating income fell to $714 million because of impairments and litigation provisions [1].
Cash has not yet caught up with profit. Free cash flow was $495 million, slightly below the prior year, and operating cash flow fell to $241 million because receivables from higher third-quarter sales will be collected next quarter [1][2]. Teva raised the low end of its full-year free cash flow outlook to $2.1 billion [1], which requires roughly $0.8-1.1 billion in the fourth quarter. Net debt was $12.633 billion at September 30 [1], about 2.7 times trailing adjusted EBITDA based on public figures, compared with the company's 2.8 times at the end of the second quarter [5].
Conclusion
The quarter strengthens the view that product mix drives Teva's profit. The three innovative brands added about $275 million year over year, offsetting roughly 60% of the decline in U.S. generics [1]. U.S. generics recovered to $718 million, and the company expects 2026 biosimilar revenue to exceed $0.8 billion [2][1]. Part of the strength is timing-related, and AJOVY's lower allowance and Europe's product-rights sales may not recur. The next tests are whether fourth-quarter AUSTEDO revenue lands in the implied range, what 2027 revenue level the company gives after price setting, and WELTRUZA's first-quarter prescriptions and payer access.
