Four major Japanese department store companies reported August same-store sales (preliminary) on September 1, 2026, with three posting year-on-year increases: Mitsukoshi Isetan Holdings (6.4% increase in the Tokyo metropolitan area), Takashimaya (5.3% increase), and H2O Retailing's Hankyu Hanshin Department Stores (6.8% increase), while J. Front Retailing's subsidiary saw a decline.
